# List Payment Categories

> Get the payment categories your platform can use.

Each entry is a number and a name. Send the number with a payment to record what
the payment was for. Only categories that are switched on for your platform are
listed.

The numbers are stable and never reused, so you can safely store them. They are
issued separately in test and live, so check this list in each.

Generic over the payload type. A route that declares
``CommonResponse[SomeModel]`` gets the real ``data`` schema rendered in
        OpenAPI/Swagger; a bare ``CommonResponse`` leaves ``data`` untyped.
